Demolished

During my year of living in China, I saw a lot of old buildings disappear and being replaced by newer and shinier building. I always felt sad, because it felt like an identity was disappearing. When I came back to my old house in the Netherlands, they started to demolish the entire neighbourhood and had already build up one new building.

Not only did I see large piles of demolishing waste, I also saw a lot of people who had to leave the neighbourhood and new people who just arrived in a neighbourhood they had no connection with. After seeing all of this around me I wanted to find a way to recycle the waste into products that tell the story of the neighbourhood. So that the identity of this area will not completely disappear.

This resulted in 3 different products and a plan to increase the social cohesion in the neighbourhood.
